Jan 20, Christy rated it really liked it. Smitten is the sequel to Crush. Cami is starting her first year of college as a music major.
She is still coping with the loss of Clay, but she has Hunter. She is over eighteen now, and there is noting stopping them from being together. Hunter is an undercover cop. T 4 Smitten with Hunter Stars! That is how he met Cami in the first place- he was the only guy on the force young enough to go undercover as a highschool student. Now he is involved in a dangerous investigation with a guy named Ripper who steals cars and is wanted for murder. He has to see Cami.
Cami has to go along, what else can she do? They move as fast as they can to get this case closed, but Hunter is pretending to be with Roberta, Ripper wants to be with Cami It gets harder and harder to keep Hunters cover when he is constantly seeing Ripper try to get with Cami A fun, quick read.
Some action, suspense, and of course some swoony Hunter. I loved Hunter in Crush, and he was just as wonderful in Smitten. He is so devoted, protective and sweet on Cami. They are an awesome couple.
The ending felt a little rushed to me, but I loved how it ended. View all 32 comments. Jun 22, Smitten’s Book Blog marked it as to-read. Best book name ever, right?! View all 5 comments. Jan 20, Carly Wardell rated it it was amazing Shelves: Jun 30, Khanique McDaniel rated it liked it.
Crush (Crush, #1) by Lacey Weatherford
The plot and series of events were majorly down played to the point where laccey not for the lies and continue reminders, I’d think it’s a completely different story. I think this undercover story worked for ‘Crush’, but it wasn’t as appealing for ‘Smitten’.
I found the premise to be exciting, but the delivery was too teen drama. It was Snow White acting as the evil witch Weatherfird were barely engaged with the surrounding characters for an undercover case and I kept waiting for the adrenaline to kick in, and while it did at parts, it burned out real fast!!!
It’s crksh the author was afraid to get too in depth into the criminal network. I liked that Russ was present and that we got to back track and see the changes after the death of Clay and the investigation from book 1, but all of it wasn’t necessary and the conversations were bordering on unbelievable and cheesy!!
Ripper seemed like a good guy, minus the stealing and stuff, but the childish side in the author left Cami shaking in her boots for a guy that has yet to show me a mean bone.
If you ask me, he seems like a cool guy who actually cared about her. But due to the undying love she is suppose to feel for Dylan, he was always the devil. Even a smidgen of interest would be more believable I never really saw Hunter excuse me while I interchange name throughoutas a police officer in this one, much less an undercover one.
It was easier to believe from book 1 because of the time of the reveal and the story line that focused more on the relationship they had as oppose to the case. In this one, it was all cop work, and it was all bad! I understand Cami being a virgin but c’mon now I had to re-read that part to make sure that the act was actually done.
Smitten (Crush, #2) by Lacey Weatherford
After all this time, we could have gotten more. Also, everyone seemed to be pretty chill with a civilian planted in the middle of an undercover police investigation and that just once again take me back to the unrealistic level of this novel. I swear everyone from the parents to the best friend should be cited for court because this case was too widely discussed.
It was like a gossip tree. I’m surprised Ripper didn’t laey out on his own or sooner. And no mob is that carefree to the point where they gonna forget about you and let you run away and live your HEA. Still, I didn’t mind reading at all. It might not get your juices going and keep it that way, but it wasn’t an awfully written book either. It was well written with little to no grammatical errors. However, the premise crusn execution was weak.
It was too bunny and sunshine for the thrill ride promised.
But I did like the Vegas chapel scene To top it all off also, the ending was just as unbelievable not in the exciting way and very abrupt based on the execution and the crime. Left a lot to be desired and a few questions. I see there will be a book 3, so I don’t know if that will be about weahterford or just a book for Russ Feb 20, Anu CN marked it as to-read.

Yes I am a total perv, I really wanted to see a few more steamy scenes between Hunter and Cami now that she is of age and in college. Oh well, this is still a great follow up book to Crush. Do not read this review if you haven’t read Crush-contains spoilers. Our poor Hunter just can’t catch a break, after all of the high school drama he and Cami went through, they were just settling into a nice boring meeting the parents routine. Then Hunter gets the call he dreads and has to go back undercover t Yes I am a total perv, I really wanted to see a few more steamy scenes between Hunter and Cami now that she is of age and in college.
Then Hunter gets the call he dreads and has to go back undercover to become part of a chop-shop ring. This time his contact is the ring leaders beautiful sister Roberta. Hunter has to pretend to be Roberta’s boyfriend while cutting off all contact with Cami.
Cami is trying to get through school with the vrush of Hunter’s best friend Russ while Hunter is on his top secret assignment. Cami cannot have any communication with Hunter for her safety, so she is constantly worrying about his safety. Hunter slips up and asks Cami to meet him as he just can’t stand not seeing her. The next thing he knows Cami is involved in crusb case and he doesn’t know how to get her back out.
Hunter and Cami are now both undercover trying to keep their crusu straight while watching the other pretend to be with someone else. Something is bound to break and it does, sending Hunter and Cami into danger. Jun 24, Jamie Greene rated it it was amazing. The female lead was amazing. Cami was strong, smart, sweet, funny, just an all together great girl. She wasnt whiney like most females in books.
She wasnt afraid to speak her mind. Showed that communication in a relationship is important. Wanted him to myself.
